Park Hyatt Aviara Resort history
After many years of careful planning and with much promotion, the first Aviara neighborhood opened in 1989. Two years later, the world renowned Aviara Golf Course became an immediate success when it opened for play in 1991. However, the concrete foundation of what was to become the Four Seasons Aviara Resort sat unfinished during the real estate slow down of the early 1990's. Eventually, a new partnership was formed, construction resumed and in 1997 the beautiful Four Seasons Aviara opened its lavish doors.
The resort with its colonial Spanish design, brought a new standard of luxury to Coastal North San Diego County, quickly eclipsing the nearby La Costa Resort and Spa in style, class and elegance. In 2010, management of the hotel was transferred from Four Seasons to the Hyatt Corporation and it now operates as the Park Hyatt Aviara Resort.

Aviara Golf Course
The Aviara Golf Course is a spectacular championship18-hole golf course designed by Arnold Palmer. Nestled into 180 acres winding through three valleys, it's open to hotel guests and the public. Because of strict environmental concerns, the golf course took a decade to complete, before opening in 1991.
The 7,007-yard, par-72 course was sculpted into the natural topography with water hazards designed as visual extensions of the Batiquitos Lagoon. It meanders through the Aviara neighborhoods, offering spectacular views to fortunate residents.
This fabulous, world-class golf course was built in harmony with nature. During construction much of the native vegetation was left intact, allowing wildflowers to grow to the edge of the fairways and greens. Lakes, cascading waterfalls and streams seem to surround every green. Honored with Golf Magazine's 2004 Gold Medal Resorts Award and #18 on Golf Digest's Top 75 Golf Resorts, the Aviara Golf Course is one of the finest golf facilities in Southern California. The course uses recycled water for 95 percent of its irrigation needs.
